I recently took a journey back in time. I decided to clean out my desk and make room for the new additions that current fill my room - and everyone else's bedroom for that matter - as I have outgrown all the space I have. Out came the old letters, the tucked away pictures, old scribbled drawings...everything. It was scary reading the things I had written back when I was ten years old. That was me?! I uncovered all those treasures which I had hoarded away deep in my desk drawers, thinking that I could never part with them.
My cleaning-out helpers |
A recent KBR advertisement in Homeschool Enrichment Magazine |
I found those first letters which I had received after I began publishing KBR, the first sample request which I received after running the first ad in Hidden Wisdom magazine (which is no longer in publication). Yes, I kept it all. And of course all these things are special to read, but there is a time to release unneeded items.
Organizing KBR volumes and back issues |
In their place, are now hundreds of books and magazines...my “treasures” now include shipping envelopes and labels, postage stamps, and the stock of KBR back issues and The Family Daughter books.
The old card file system |
I did something that I had dreaded doing for over a year. Last year I transferred my KBR subscriber information database from that archaic 3x5" card system to a computer database. But I had dreaded actually getting rid of the old index cards...part of me didn't want to move on from the old method. But this week, it was time. The space is needed. So out they went!
...and in its place is my brand-new 2 TB external hard drive! Technology is wonderful, and takes so much less space |
Lots to clean out! |
